The Gabrielino 50K is an epic trail run event (limited to 15 participants) which has been designed for ultrarunners who like to run low-key endurance events, and possibly use this event to train for longer ultras*. The Gabrielino 50K route will follow as much of the actual Gabrielino National Recreational Trail as allowable. However, due to the 2020 Bobcat Fires trail closures, the event will commence from Lizzie's Tavern in Sierra Madre (instead of Chantry Flats which is closed indefinitely). The route will go up the old Mt. Wilson trail to summit Mt. Wilson, then descend the Kenyon Devore trail to hop on to the actual Gabrielino Trail for the rest of the route to our finish area in the JPL parking lot next to Windsor Ave. in Altadena, CA. *Please note that all participants must be able to carry enough fuel and fluids to support them through 15 mountain trail miles, as there will only be one aid station on the course at the halfway point at Redbox Picnic Area. There will also be nutrition and fluids available for runners at the start and finish areas. For your convenience, you may opt to sign up for the shuttle service that will take runners from the finish area to the start area in the early morning, because this is a point-to-point course.
Do you have a question about one of my trail run events? Have you seen trail conditions change recently? Please send me a message, and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
